Alfred West, principal of Xchange Telecom founded Econophone/Destia (Nasdaq, DEST) in 1990. By 1999 they were listed #88 in Inc.™s magazine in the Top 500 Fastest Growing Private companies. Econophone, Inc. was from the first innovators to anticipate the prepaid card "explosion".
By 1995 they were the first to build and leverage an international network allowing them to channel, direct and expand the prepaid card industry. In 1997, Alfred West, a true industry pioneer, was nominated for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award. |

Prior to co-founding Xchange Telecom, Alan was President and COO of Destia from 1996 to 1999 (founded by Alfred West, Sipmedia President) and helped to build Destia Communications into a global telecom enterprise with operations and customers in 10 countries and more than $350 million in annual revenue. Destia’s May 1999 IPO was shortly followed in December 1999 by the sale of the company to Viatel in a transaction valued in excess of $1 billion. Prior to joining Destia, Alan, a CPA, held the CFO, Managing Director of Europe and EVP Legal and Finance positions at Viatel, a pan-European fiber-based telecom carrier. |

Prior to joining Xchange Telecom, Bob was CEO and a founder of Quicktel, a privately held telecommunications company. Prior to that Bob was Vice President of Pre Paid services of Destia Communications. At Destia, Bob was responsible for managing the Pre Paid card division, which he grew from $300K of annual revenue to over $110 million of annual revenue. |
